During this tour we will visit one of the most important touristic destinations located in Mtskheta-Mtianeti : Ananuri Castle Complex (XVI-XVIII cc.), Gergeti Trinity church (XIV c.) and Latsi Archangel Monastry (XXI c.). Hiking will be required to visit the Gergeti Trinity Church : The distance is about 5 km. A professional guide will be able to tell and show a lot of interesting.

visiting Ananuri Castle complex (XVI-XVIII cc.), you will enjoy beautiful panorama of Zhinvali reservoir from here. Ananuri was a fortress for Aragvi Dukes for centuries and later became the residence. with other interesting historicall monuments here is preserved late medieval Georgian architecture church- the Church of Theotokos (1689 y.)

15 minute stop for panoramic view before Jvari (cross) pass

we arrive to Stepantsminda (formerly ) through Jvari (cross) pass (2379 m.)
13:00 - 16:00
Going up to Gergeti Trinity. Gergeti Trinity Church (XVI c.) is the most important cultural and religious center of the ravine. here was kept St. Nino's cross. Church has spectacular view of glacierm Stepantsminda and Kuro range. 5 km walk is required (500 meters vertically). additional vehicle rentall is an option. ( 6-7 person off road mini-van, 60 GEL )

By the desicion of Georgian Patriarch Ilia II monasteires were built on borders, one of them is Larsi monastery. It is still being built, The main temple and few auxilary buildings are done.

Return to Tbilisi.
